How it works
How it works
Our lip treatments use advanced techniques to improve lip volume and contour. The formulations used in these treatments have the unique ability to adapt under movement while maintaining their shape and projection. When applied to the lips, they integrate seamlessly with the skin, ensuring a smooth and natural look even with dynamic facial expressions.
Why we use this treatment?
Why we use this treatment?
As we age, we lose collagen, affecting skin elasticity and causing the lips to thin and lose volume. At the R Clinic, we address this with bespoke lip treatments to restore volume, softness, and smoothness. This treatment also helps with wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth, creating balance and symmetry while enhancing the lips’ natural features. We take a gradual approach, focusing on harmony and proportion to complement your overall appearance.
This treatment is most suitable for patients seeking to:
- Increase volume
- Restore fullness and definition
- Improve the shape and symmetry of the lips
- Enhance the balance between your lips and other facial features
- Reduce fine lines around the mouth
Expected result
Expected result
You will notice immediate results post-procedure, though initial swelling may make your lips appear fuller than expected. Allow 48 hours for the swelling to subside and for the treatment to settle. Some bruising may occur and typically resolves within five days. Over the next two weeks, the treatment will fully integrate into your natural lip tissue, achieving the final result. We provide a complimentary review appointment at two weeks to assess the outcome and make any necessary adjustments.
- Treatment Time – 40 Mins

Preparation & Aftercare
Preparation
Preparation
To minimise the risk of bruising and swelling, follow these guidelines before your appointment:
- Avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen and aspirin.
- Refrain from supplements that thin the blood, such as fish oil, vitamin E, and St. John’s Wort.
- Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.
- If you are prone to cold sores, take an antiviral medication as a precaution on the day of treatment.
During procedure
During procedure
In line with your tailored treatment plan, we will carefully examine your facial structure. The procedure begins by cleansing the lip area with an antiseptic. A device marks veins to reduce bruising risk, and anesthetic options are provided for your comfort. The procedure, which takes 15 to 45 minutes depending on the treatment area, uses a fine needle or cannula to apply the treatment precisely. Throughout the procedure, your safety and comfort are our top priorities.
Aftercare
Aftercare
- Post-treatment care includes:
- Applying a gentle cool compress (avoid direct ice contact).
- Avoiding heat-inducing activities for 24 hours, such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas, and hot showers.
- Refraining from massaging the treated area unless instructed.
- Avoiding alcohol and air travel for three days.
- Using a topical treatment like Bepanthen or Arnica cream thrice daily for seven days.

FAQ
Have further questions or want to learn more?
How long do results last?
Results are temporary, lasting up to 12 months. Regular treatments are necessary to maintain lip volume and contour.
Is downtime required after treatment?
Minimal downtime is needed. Swelling, bruising, and soreness are normal for the first 24 to 48 hours. Some patients return to routine activities immediately, while others prefer a brief rest period.
What is the difference between this treatment and a lip flip?
A lip flip uses anti-wrinkle treatments to relax the upper lip muscles, creating a fuller appearance without adding volume. Results last four to six weeks. Our lip enhancement procedures add direct volume and can enhance lip definition, lasting up to a year.
What are the risks?
Side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, and lumps, which are usually mild and resolve quickly. Treatments are safe and nearly painless, but must be performed by experienced practitioners.
Can I fly after treatment?
Avoid flying for one to two weeks post-treatment due to increased pressure that can exacerbate bruising and swelling.
Can I exercise after treatment?
Avoid exercise for at least 24 hours post-treatment to prevent increased swelling from blood flow to the face.
